The Proof and the Power of Nakane CAPS
You Are God Authored. Let's Read People the Way God Wrote Them.
Human behavior can feel unpredictable.
People shift, react, adapt — and sometimes it feels like it comes out of nowhere.
But… What if it wasn’t actually random?
What if there was a structure beneath it, and you could see it on display in real time?
That’s what Nakane CAPS — the Cycle Analysis Profiling System — is built on.
And at the heart of it is a simple but powerful discovery: sensory equations.
When you analyze these equations — which are completely observable — you start to see the distinct behavioral cycles a person moves through. These cycles reveal someone’s underlying motivations and tendencies… and even their moment‑to‑moment shifts.
And the best part? It’s all right there in front of you.
Eye movements.
Head leans.
Facial expressions.
Body movements.
The words someone chooses… even the tone of their voice.
This isn’t a simple personality test.
It’s not just body‑language analysis.
It’s a way to recognize the patterns that drive human behavior — both inside and out.
Over eighteen years of research and development, we discovered that every person has three layers shaping who they are. These layers can be identified and separated using Nakane CAPS.
We call them the Trilogy of the Person.
First, there’s your Inherent Composition — the genetic traits and the unique Nakane CAPS motivational profile you’re born with.
Second, there’s your Historical Story — the rules you picked up from your upbringing, your culture, your environment… all the things that shaped how you learned to survive and succeed.
And third, there’s your Set‑Moment-Response — the choices you make and the reactions you have in the present moment.
When you understand these three layers together, something amazing happens:
People start to make sense.
And once you can see your own cycles — and adjust them — you suddenly have the ability to bring about the greatest good in your life and in the lives of the people around you.
It’s simple… but incredibly powerful.
Challenges you’ve wrestled with for years can finally be untangled.
Daily goals become easier to plan and actually accomplish.
Relationships — with loved ones, friends, coworkers, even strangers — become smoother, clearer, and more meaningful.
Nakane CAPS reshapes the way we understand people.
And once you see it… you’ll never see yourself — or anyone else — the same way again.
Upgrading the Four Temperaments? How Nakane CAPS Changes the Conversation.
- Why do Catholics tend to use the Four Temperaments to understand people? We’ve received numerous questions about how Nakane CAPS differs from the traditional four temperament model. Let’s clear up any confusion and dive into what sets our approach apart.
Catholics often turn to the four temperaments because the Church has a long tradition of embracing valuable human insights wherever they appear. The temperaments reach back to ancient Greek thought, and throughout history, Catholic thinkers and saints have used the best knowledge available to understand human nature. So it makes sense that they would adopt a framework that helps categorize people’s tendencies and behaviors.
Historically, the four temperaments — sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic — were tied to the old medical idea of bodily humors. Even though that medical model was eventually disproven, the temperaments remained a simple, accessible way for people to make sense of personality variances. People recognized that humans really do have inherent differences, and they were looking for a tool — even a basic one — to help navigate that
2. So how does Nakane CAPS differ from the four temperaments?
What we’re really talking about is a growth in knowledge. Traditional systems — including the four temperaments — take the four main aspects of human processing: feeling, thinking, auditory, and visual… and then try to fit entire personalities into those broad buckets. The problem is that this oversimplifies people while also blurring the categories.
With the temperaments, you might say, “This person is mainly melancholic,” which loosely maps to a “thinking type,” and then you try to fit a whole list of traits into that box.
Nakane CAPS is different. Our 2008 discovery of sensory equations, the basis of what we call the motivants of human behavior, are built on the 4 sensory blocks. These are tied together in pairs, like strands of DNA to create 7 motivants. Each of these motivants are part of a larger, cyclical structure within every person’s profile. In addition, the 7 motivants are observable. Eye movements. Head leans. Facial expressions. Body movements. Even the words someone chooses. All of these reveal a person’s inherent composition — including their Nakane CAPS profile — and their moment‑to‑moment behavioral shifts.
And from a Catholic perspective, these 7 motivants also connect directly to the Trinity, to Scripture, and to Catholic theology — the 7 days of Creation, the 7 woes, the 7 churches of Revelation, the 7 sacraments, the 7 virtues and vices – just to name a few! Because of that, they offer tools for spiritual growth and holiness that simply haven’t been understood at this level before.
So, in summary: Nakane CAPS builds upon centuries of attempts to understand human behavior — but moves into something more accurate, more structured, more observable, and more spiritually integrative. Older models were helpful for their time, but Nakane CAPS gives us a richer set of tools to understand who God created us to be, and how to build lives rooted in truth, beauty, and goodness.
3. This sounds great, but what if I’ve spent a lot of time learning the Four Temperaments? Do I have to throw all that away?
No — you don’t.
If you already understand the four sensory blocks, you’ve already learned a foundational part of the system. You’re not starting from scratch. There *will* be a process of cleaning up the four categories as you currently know them, but once you do, you’ll find that people’s behaviors make far more sense.
